To mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (29 November), the Bloody Sunday Trust is urging community and voluntary organisations across Derry City & Strabane District Council to take part in a BDS compliance audit.
Now more than ever, the people of Palestine need effective international solidarity to hold those complicit in genocide to account. Israel can only continue its genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians because of the continued complicity of states, institutions, and corporations.
This voluntary internal exercise allows organisations to review their suppliers, procurement processes and financial relationships to identify any links with companies named by the BDS Movement as priority targets to be boycotted for their involvement in violations of international law.
No one should be deceived by meaningless talk of a “ceasefire” or a “peace plan”. The siege of Gaza continues, aid is still blocked, and Palestinians are still being murdered every day.
To hold Israel and its enablers accountable and bring the genocide to an end, the BDS movement is calling for escalating pressure on the companies that profit from Israel’s crimes and illegal occupation of Palestinian land.
In line with that call the Trust is available to provide guidance, clarify criteria, and suggest ethical alternatives to those groups wishing to support the BDS campaign in solidarity with Palestine.
At the same time, the Bloody Sunday Trust and Pat Finucane Centre have launched a joint fundraising appeal to support the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS). Running until 10 January 2026, the appeal aims to raise £3,000 to provide vital medical care. The Museum of Free Derry will donate one day’s takings, and proceeds from Palestine-themed merchandise and greeting cards will also contribute.
Finally, the Trust is proud to endorse the 18th National Demonstration for Palestine, taking place in Dublin at 1pm on 29 November. The march marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and is an opportunity for organisations and individuals to show support for justice and human rights in Palestine.
