Finn joined the Bloody Sunday Trust as an intern this summer.
Tell us a little about yourself:
I’m Finn, I’m 21 years old, and I was born and raised in the States, spending time in the Midwest and on the east coast. I still live and attend university in America, where I study Political Science, but I am spending this fall right here in Derry. Beyond my studies and my work at the Museum of Free Derry, I enjoy hiking, reading, writing and watching and playing sports.
How did you get involved in the Bloody Sunday Trust?
As a part of my study abroad program in Derry, I was given an internship placement, which led me to the Bloody Sunday Trust. I had learned about the museum and the work they did through my studies, and the organisation appealed to me. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to join the Trust as an intern, where I will be until the end of November.
What have you learned from your experience so far?
Before I came to Derry from America, I knew next to nothing about the conflict, or the present circumstances, in the North of Ireland. The Derry experience can’t just be read off a page, it needs to be seen and heard, and that sentiment is at the core of the Bloody Sunday Trust. I have been blessed with the opportunity to live in the history of the place, an invaluable opportunity
